Estamos en San Salvador

Antigua was pretty interesting and probably would have been more interesting if we spent more than 20 hours there and were more into the historical. There are some crushed churches and other ruins left over from earthquakes past that haven´t been restored to their previous luster. The streets appear more like a town in Spain than Guatemala and it is entirely catered to the tourists. The artistan market was interesting at first, but we soon realized that each shop was selling almost exactly the same goods. There was a house restored to colonial times, but I guess it was temporarily closed while we were there...

From there we took a chicken bus to Guatemala City and found a ¨taxi¨ where we got off the bus which took us to a bus station to get to San Salvador, just not the one we asked for. The bus seemed on its last legs and water leaked inside when it rained, but it was good enough for our needs and wasn´t crowded at all so we had space to stretch out a bit.

We made it into San Salvador just after sunset last night and were able to find a taxi and a place to stay fairly easily and then had dinner at a small Italian restaurant across the street. This morning we are heading to Ruinas de San Andres close to San Salvador for a quick morning excursion before the rains come.
